Mission
The sea is deeply intertwined with human life. The sound of waves marks the rhythm of daily existence, fishermen receive the bounty of the ocean and share its abundance with their neighbors. Children by the shore dream of the future as they feel the sea breeze. The sea, sometimes harsh and sometimes nurturing, remains ever-present alongside our lives. Before the boundless expanse of blue nature, human activity becomes but a small fragment of memory within the world. In photographs where the sea is visible, the emotional distance between people’s lives and the ocean is vividly reflected in each image. The theme of this contest is "The Distance Between the Sea and Daily Life." We invite you to explore the relationship and sense of distance between the sea and human activity. Submit a photograph that captures the proximity of the sea in your life—be it the scenery of a coastal town, traces of life in once-prosperous fishing villages, or the light on the horizon at the beginning or end of the day. For this edition, we are honored to welcome official curators—photographers Koki Manshu, Kento Hirasue, and Utaumi, all based in Setouchi. We look forward to fostering new encounters between participants and curators through this contest. *Submissions that violate our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will not be considered for selection. *Prize recipients may be contacted by the cizucu team to confirm personal information such as address.
