Mission
The sea is deeply intertwined with the lives of people. The sound of the waves marks the rhythm of daily life, and fishermen share the bounty of the sea with their neighbors. Children by the seaside dream of their futures as they feel the sea breeze. The sea, sometimes harsh and sometimes nurturing, stays close to our lives. In front of the endlessly spreading blue nature, human activities become just a small memory fragment of the world. Every photo that features the sea deeply reflects the emotional distance between people and the sea. The theme of this contest is "The Distance Between the Sea and Life." It explores the relationship between the sea and daily activities and the sense of distance associated with it. Submit a photo that represents the sea's proximity, whether it be landscapes of coastal towns, remnants of once-thriving fishing villages, or the light on the horizon at the start or end of a day. We are thrilled to host this contest with official curators Koki Manju, Kento Hirasue, and Utaumi, who are active in the Setouchi region.
