This time, we spoke with the creator PECA, who took part in the .
On social media, I go by the pen name PECA, and I am a Korean designer working in Japan.
I first started photography in university, when I wanted to try out the school’s darkroom and bought a film camera. For a long time, I didn’t take photos, but in the past three to four years, I’ve started shooting again. Since I create designs for work, photography is a way for me to freely capture daily life and document parts of my work, enjoying it with a bit more freedom than my professional projects.
There aren’t many people with whom I can casually discuss not only photography but also the emotions and sensations evoked by design. I’ve always wanted to have more open conversations about both photography and design.
At that time, I saw a Korean YouTuber introduce the in a video, and I thought it was wonderful that people could gather informally to talk about their own photographs and listen to others discuss theirs. That inspired me to participate.

Another reason was that I wanted to see how the image quality would turn out when printing a half-frame film photograph at A2 size.
I was a bit worried about whether I could communicate well with people I was meeting for the first time, but the overall atmosphere was relaxed and open. Even during preparations, I was able to have various conversations, and I never felt pressured—it was a very enjoyable exhibition event.
I was also delighted to meet and talk with the creator featured in the YouTuber’s video that inspired me to join.
Listening to the stories of creators who enjoy photography in different ways gave me the opportunity to see images from new perspectives. It was a truly enjoyable time to casually discuss a shared theme with people I had just met.
This photograph was taken in Lyon, France, capturing the moment when light fell on the square in front of city hall and people crossed paths within that light.
The impression of the light at that moment in a foreign land still lingers strongly with me.
Another reason for choosing this piece was my curiosity about how it would look when printed at A2 size, which was also what inspired me to participate.
As someone who participated for the first time, my words may not be entirely convincing, but the is an exceptionally enjoyable exhibition event from the very beginning of installation and preparation.

In addition to the gallery talk, if you have the time, I highly recommend joining from the preparation stage as well!
