Mission
Spitz once sang, "Beyond the torii gate lies a dazzling land of the past," but even without passing through a torii, we sometimes encounter traces of the past in the city—like unfamiliar, rusted signboards whose typography evokes nostalgia. These nostalgic buildings and signboards, which could be called quintessential Japanese landscapes, may one day disappear due to redevelopment or collapse in an earthquake, never to be seen by future generations. This month's mission is to become a time traveler, discovering and capturing in photographs those fleeting moments of an era that only we, living in the present, can notice. Through these images, we aim to reveal the universal Japanese aesthetic and spirit, and connect them to the future. We encourage you to submit works taken in lesser-known places, rather than popular spots. For details on the selection criteria, please refer to the magazine below.
