'spring'

In spring, the angle of light and the scent of the wind change little by little each day.
The once rigid scenery softens, and the budding leaves and petals suddenly catch your eye.
Yet, the moments that move the heart are always fleeting.

The gentle sunlight of morning, the freshness after rain, the shadows swaying at the tips of branches.
The hint of new colors, the temperature of the air.

All these fleeting moments accumulate, and within each photograph, a unique “spring” of that day and place is preserved.
What kind of tactile sense of spring have you captured?

Show us your one-of-a-kind spring moment.

The pale pinks blur and melt, with flowers softly floating in the blue sky’s gradient. By leaving the outlines undefined, the softness and brilliance of spring, even the scent of the wind, seem to rise together. The courage not to depict things sharply creates a texture close to the “spring” in memory, making this a photograph that gently unravels the viewer’s heart.

The way spring’s colors quietly permeate the scene is breathtaking. The contrast between the gradient of the evening sky and the silhouettes is highly poetic. The small flowers (buds) at the tips of the branches create rhythm in the foreground, while the distant cityscape adds a sense of seasonal scale—a masterful composition. Even the fleeting warmth as spring settles in is captured here.

A small sprout stretches straight up from the stony ground. Behind it, the blurred outlines of water and city. This photograph reminds us that spring is not only about vibrancy, but also about the “strength of beginnings.” The shallow depth of field accentuates the presence of the sprout, while the quiet negative space evokes a sense of time stretching into the future. Subtle yet unforgettable, it captures the very core of spring.

The figures lined up beneath the clouds of cherry blossoms capture the “always the same, always different” passage of spring. Flowers fill the gaze above, petals accumulate underfoot. Nothing special is happening, yet only the memory remains vivid. This work quietly scoops up the magic of the season.

The presence of a small life enveloped by cherry blossoms directly conveys the abundance of spring. The light threading through the branches delicately highlights the translucence of the petals and the texture of the bird’s feathers, even evoking a sense of breath. The moment of receiving the season’s blessing with one’s whole being is beautifully captured, gently untying the hearts of those who view it.

The composition, with a single flower standing in a field of green, distills the very moment of “discovery” in spring. The gentle blur in the foreground softly guides the gaze, making the vivid red of the main subject stand out even more. The tranquil negative space allows us to receive the very beginning of the season.

The scenery flowing past the train window frame captures the very “movement” of the spring season. The smudges and grain of the glass act as a filter of memory, evoking a sense of nostalgia. More than the destination, it is the shifting time that gently unravels the heart. This work quietly exudes the sentiment of a spring journey.

The branches stretching into the clear sky and the birds taking flight from them. The pale green of the budding leaves gently unravels the remnants of winter, marking the moment the season shifts. There is a sense of “beginning” at the end of the upward gaze, and a definite vitality within the stillness. This work allows us to embrace the lightness of spring, including its negative space.

Cherry blossoms fill the frame, and even the petals fallen at our feet seem to echo the sounds of spring. The backs of children lined up behind the fence quietly evoke memories of the season that returns each year. The gentle colors and everyday moments blend together, softly reminding us that “spring is found in daily life.”

The framing created by the roofline against the blue sky and the blurred flowers surrounding it beautifully conveys the uplifting brightness of spring. The contrast between the hard texture of the tiles and the soft colors of the flowers is also striking, evoking the moment when the season repaints the face of the city. This work brings forth memories of travel from the upward gaze.

In Closing

How did you enjoy this feature?

The theme of ‘spring’ reveals completely different expressions depending on place, time, light, and temperature—even though it’s the same “spring.” The works submitted this time conveyed not only gentle sunlight and hints of budding, but also the freshness after rain, lingering chill in the air, and the bittersweetness of seasonal transitions—each photographer’s unique “spring moment” came through vividly.

Discovering new pieces—talents yet unseen—is precisely the role we hope to fulfill through this project, and we wish for your creative expression to reach even more hearts.
