Mission
The remarkable diversity of plants, which has nurtured countless forms of life, is both inspiring and full of discovery. Celebrating its centennial this year, the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden has, for a century, been a place dedicated to sharing the allure and restorative power of the plant world. To mark its 100th anniversary, two special photo contests will be held. The theme of the first edition is "Plant Diversity." This open call invites you to explore and capture the fascination and beauty that diversity brings. We encourage you to submit photographic works depicting flowers found while strolling through the city, trees thriving in your hometown park, or the vibrant lives of birds and other creatures coexisting with plants. Seek to capture the many expressions of plants and their surrounding environments. Of course, we warmly welcome works photographed at the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden itself. Let this contest be your invitation to visit and discover the garden anew. Please be sure to include the location where your photograph was taken in your caption. We look forward to receiving your submissions. For the second edition, in addition to photographs taken in 2024—the centennial memorial year—archival images from the past will also be eligible. Through this exhibition, we aim to rediscover the enduring appeal of the botanical garden and connect memories spanning a century to the next hundred years. *Submissions that violate our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will not be considered by the curatorial jury. *Selected artists may be contacted by the cizucu team to confirm personal information such as address.
