Leica Camera Japan has released the Leica Q3 Monochrom, a monochrome-dedicated model based on the full-frame compact camera Leica Q3, on November 21, 2025.
Building on the philosophy of its predecessor, the Leica Q2 Monochrom, this model incorporates the latest sensor technology and improved usability. Priced at ¥1,199,000 (tax included), it firmly establishes itself as a premium compact camera.
Unparalleled Image Quality with a Dedicated Monochrome Sensor
The Leica Q3 Monochrom is equipped with a 60MP monochrome CMOS sensor, offering triple resolution technology that allows users to switch between 60MP, 36MP, and 18MP recording sizes.
By eliminating the color filter used in color sensors, the camera captures light directly, achieving higher sharpness and a wider dynamic range. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to a maximum of 200,000, enabling high-quality monochrome images with reduced noise even in low-light conditions.
Optical Performance and Versatile Shooting Features
The lens features the Leica Summilux f1.7/28mm ASPH., a wide-angle prime lens that also includes a macro mode with a minimum focusing distance of 17cm, making it suitable for a wide range of photography, from landscapes to tabletop photography.
Digital zoom options include focal lengths equivalent to 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm. Additionally, the camera supports video recording at up to 8K (8192×4320), delivering exceptional monochrome expression for both stills and videos.
Minimalist Aesthetic Design
The exterior features a full-metal body with a black paint finish, complemented by design elements such as the "Monochrom" engraving on the top plate and the absence of the red badge, embodying Leica's minimalist philosophy.
The magnesium die-cast construction enhances durability, while the IP52-compliant dust and splash resistance adds functionality. Weighing approximately 746g (including battery), the camera strikes a balance between portability and premium build quality.

The Leica Q3 Monochrom introduces a new UI that separates controls for photography and videography, enabling intuitive operation. Additionally, it supports digital signature image recording compliant with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), ensuring the authenticity of image sources and modification history.
It is equipped with high-speed USB-C (10Gbps), HDMI, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0, and supports mobile workflows via the Leica FOTOS app.
