On October 21, RICOH Imaging Company announced the development of two derivative models based on the compact digital camera 'RICOH GR IV': the 'GR IV Monochrome' and the 'GR IV HDF.' Both models are custom-designed to specialize in snap photography and pursue unique rendering characteristics.
The First GR Series Camera with a Dedicated Monochrome Sensor
The 'GR IV Monochrome' features a dedicated monochrome CMOS sensor, a specialized lens unit, and image control. Designed to maximize the gradation and texture of black-and-white photography, it offers a new photographic experience not seen in previous GR models. The release is scheduled for spring 2026.

The 'HDF Model' for Soft Highlight Rendering
The 'GR IV HDF' incorporates a Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF) instead of the conventional ND filter. This allows for soft rendering that takes advantage of light diffusion and supports switching the filter ON/OFF. The HDF effect, which gained attention with the GR III, has been updated for the latest model, scheduled for release in winter 2025.

Exterior Samples to Be Displayed at GR SPACE TOKYO
Both models will have development-stage exterior samples showcased at 'GR SPACE TOKYO' starting October 23. As the GR series approaches its 30th anniversary, RICOH's evolving snap cameras are stepping into new realms of photographic expression.
