On March 7, 2024, Nikon Corporation announced the acquisition of RED.com, LLC (hereafter "RED"), a leading U.S. manufacturer of professional digital cinema cameras, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
RED is renowned as a major innovator in digital cinema camera development, with models such as the "RED ONE 4K" and "V-RAPTOR [X]" setting industry standards and being widely adopted in Hollywood film productions.
Founder James Jannard and current president Jarred Land have agreed to the full acquisition of RED by Nikon.
This partnership is expected to combine the strengths of both Nikon and RED, enabling unique product development in the professional video equipment sector. By leveraging each company's foundations and networks, the collaboration aims to further expand the rapidly growing professional video market.
