Rediscover the Everyday
‘Rediscover the Everyday’ is a global online photo contest hosted by cizucu, open to all creators registered on cizucu. Outstanding submissions will be curated, with the aim of discovering new talent through the platform and supporting the community.
The theme for this edition is Rediscover the Everyday.
In the repetition of our daily lives,
we often overlook the fleeting moments right before our eyes.
Yet, when we pause and look around,
we realize that even in familiar scenery and ordinary moments,
there are hidden discoveries and beauty waiting to be found.
By shifting our perspective just slightly,
even the most familiar landscapes may reveal new expressions.
We hope this contest will inspire you to rediscover the allure within the everyday.
We look forward to your submissions.

It’s said that ‘oni’ (demons) may refer to powers outside the ancient government, and so on...
Anyway, where I am, people gather for an important Shinto ritual, throw beans, drink sweet sake...
My child was startled by everyone’s loud voices, and tried to shout back in self-defense.
Exhausted, and ended up like this.

This image captures a fragment of everyday life scattered across the floor, evoking a sense of a small story. The casually placed toys and socks, and the gently resting hand, quietly convey the warmth and presence of daily living. Even without any special staging, the affection and passage of time inherent in such moments are beautifully observed through a sensitive lens.

On the way home from a walk, I happened to look up
and saw the autumn sky peeking through.

In this image, the silhouettes of trees and the city quietly emerge within the gradation of dusk. While depicting an everyday scene, the contrail crossing the sky adds a subtle narrative. The more you look, the more you are drawn into this work, which captures the fleeting beauty and passage of time in a familiar landscape.

The striking contrast between the clear blue sky, the stark fence, and the barbed wire is memorable. Within this unremarkable everyday scene, invisible emotions such as boundaries and distance quietly emerge. The slightly distanced perspective delicately captures the tension and beauty hidden in an ordinary landscape, making this a compelling work.

In the city that never sleeps
cizucu Editorial Team
The neon and taillights reflected on the rain-soaked pavement gently blur the boundary between reality and illusion. The reflections in the foreground spread out like a second city, evoking a sense of depth and expanse. Even the unremarkable rear view of a taxi becomes a memorable scene, delicately conveying the light and humidity that linger in the city at night.

The interplay of light and shadow streaming into the bus interior gently colors a moment of everyday life. The patterns of the regularly arranged seats overlap with the wavering shapes of light, creating subtle changes in the familiar scenery. This work impressively reveals the beauty that can be found in the most ordinary moments of transit, inviting us to pause and appreciate the gentle gaze through which it is observed.
