Apple's annual developer conference, WWDC25, will be streamed online starting at 2:00 AM JST on Tuesday, June 10. This year’s highlights include the unification of all Apple operating systems under “iOS 26” and a complete overhaul of the UI design inspired by VisionOS, featuring a glass-like aesthetic.

Additionally, the AI feature known as Apple Intelligence is once again in the spotlight. For photography enthusiasts, the transformative photo experience brought by iOS 26 and the enhanced productivity of iPadOS open up new possibilities for editing styles.

Transforming Photo and UI Experiences with iOS 26

The biggest topic this time is the design overhaul in iOS 26. With a VisionOS-inspired transparent UI, rounded icons, and a sense of depth created by light and shadow, the interface feels like peering through glass into the world.

The Photos app and lock screen widgets are also expected to adopt the new style, making editing and organization more intuitive. Not only will it enhance the appeal of subjects, but post-shoot photo viewing will also evolve into a more creative experience.

iPad as an Editing Tool: The Fusion of Apple Pencil and AI

iPadOS 26 will see enhanced multitasking capabilities, bringing it closer to a Mac-like editing environment. Combined with an external keyboard, users will be able to efficiently sort, develop, and share photos.

Furthermore, the Apple Pencil will feature a new calligraphy mode and expanded language support, making it a valuable tool for retouching and annotation tasks. AI-powered photo organization and cleanup functions are also expected to improve, enabling the creation of smarter archives.

Hardware Announcements on Hold?

Hardware announcements are expected to be limited this year, but rumors suggest new features for AirPods, such as camera activation and sleep detection.

In particular, the “camera control” feature could introduce a new approach to tripod use and selfies, potentially making photo workflows even smarter. Stay tuned for innovative proposals in photography.
