Hello! This is Daimaru Kyoto. Have you ever heard of the concept of "Shimatsu no Kokoro"? It refers to a spirit that has been cherished in Kyoto for generations—an ethos of ingenuity and mindfulness, where one values and cares for objects and experiences. At Daimaru Kyoto, we embrace "Shimatsu no Kokoro" not as mere frugality or restraint, but as an enjoyable and creative approach to eco-conscious living. This open call invites you to express your own interpretation of "Shimatsu no Kokoro" through photography! For example: - A personally decorated reusable bottle you use every day - A favorite eco-bag discovered during your travels Photographs that capture a lifestyle where your chosen objects, loved for their design or story, naturally contribute to sustainability. Or, - Children playing in a park where litter is present - Someone contemplating between environmentally conscious and less sustainable choices We also welcome submissions that inspire awareness or serve as a catalyst for environmental action. Selected works that beautifully capture meaningful actions will be featured as posters within Daimaru Kyoto. Feel free to draw inspiration from previous works or magazines, and express your own vision of "Shimatsu no Kokoro." We look forward to your participation!
