Mission

"Because nothing lasts forever, each moment is precious." This is a fundamental concept in Buddhism and is also embodied in the uniquely Japanese philosophy of "wabi-sabi." The theme for this open call is "Moments That Evoke History." A rusted doorknob, a moss-covered torii gate, a grandmother's timeworn hands. Let the traces left by time guide you, imagine the great river of history flowing ceaselessly, and know that once a stone is cast into its current, it cannot be retrieved. Let us quietly honor the fleeting nature of time that exists before the present, and release the shutter in silent reverence. Though the bustle of daily life may cause us to forget, with intention, we can remember.
