Mission
In a world filled with color, our eyes are naturally drawn to hues. Yet, by relinquishing color, monochrome photography accentuates the very essence of the image—light and shadow, form, texture, and atmosphere. The theme for this open call is "Monochrome." From the hard shadows on a city street, the gentle light falling by a window, the nuanced expressions etched in a portrait, to the tactile quality of a rain-soaked road—your subject is entirely up to you. Express the tactile sensation and narrative of the world you see using only the gradations between black and white. Show us, through your singular image, the persuasive power that emerges when you design contrast, orchestrate rhythm in shadow, render texture, and embrace negative space—all without relying on color. *Submissions that violate our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will not be considered by the curatorial jury. *Selected artists may be contacted by the cizucu team to confirm personal information such as address.
