Mission
Liminal Space refers to areas such as hallways, staircases, roads, and hotels, which exist as transitional or passing spaces. Gaining attention as an internet meme around 2019, it has spread as an aesthetic representing the eeriness and nostalgia of uninhabited places. In spaces devoid of human presence, a quietness slightly detached from reality lingers. The halfway feeling of being 'in-between' is the charm of Liminal Space. Empty hallways, stores after closing, and train platforms awaiting the morning. Even without people, the traces of someone's presence remain. This contest's theme is "Uninhabited Spaces with Traces of Presence." We welcome not only unease but also the liminal feelings of nostalgia, tranquility, loneliness, and comfort. Emphasizing the expanse of space might enhance the impact.
