Mission
Zenkyouan, a Zen temple located in Higashiyama, Kyoto, is renowned for its enshrined deity, "Marishiten," believed to bring good fortune and victory. It's considered one of Japan's three major Marishiten shrines. Recently, it has gained fame for hosting live events, contemporary art exhibitions, and picture book displays, making it a hub for arts and entertainment. The head priest, Masamune Uematsu, is also a filmmaker and has taught photography at an art university in Kyoto. The theme for this collaboration with Zenkyouan is "Expression of Emotions - Your Seven Colors." Participants can submit up to 7 photos. The inner world, indescribable by words like joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, is an infinite gradient. Engage in a dialogue with your emotions through the lens. We look forward to your submissions expressing your inner world. **Message from Zenkyouan's Head Priest Uematsu:** Thank you for your interest in this contest. The idea of "expressing your emotions through photography" was born from my experience as a university lecturer, constantly contemplating how to face and express one's inner self. People are moved by the things and scenery before them, directing their lens and pressing the shutter. However, just capturing a photo doesn't convey the emotions of that moment. We don't want just beautiful landscapes or objects, nor photos taken for "likes." The human heart possesses rich emotions that words cannot express or convey. With live view features on most modern cameras and smartphones, use your camera as an instrument, honestly expressing your emotions freely. *Submissions violating our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will be excluded from judging. *Winners may be contacted by the cizucu team for personal information like addresses.
