Third Landscape
Third Landscape

Mission

The concept of the Third Landscape originates from the French botanist Gilles Clément's idea of the "Tiers-paysage." These are vacant lots, abandoned lands, railway verges, and wastelands in urban and rural areas—spaces left behind by human management and development. Though excluded from the logic of production and efficiency, they serve as margins where diverse forms of life persist. This edition's theme is "The Third Landscape." Places that society has overlooked or failed to value. Spaces pushed to the periphery of urban planning. Landscapes without names, often ignored. Or perhaps, places that exist only in someone's memory. Photography has long provided an opportunity to turn our gaze toward the margins. What may seem like mere wasteland could appear entirely different through your eyes. We look forward to seeing landscapes shaped by your unique perspective. *Submissions that violate our guidelines ( https://www.cizucu.com/terms/guideline ) will not be considered by the curatorial jury. *Winners may be contacted by the cizucu team to confirm personal details such as address.
