SIGMA announces the addition of a Canon RF mount to the interchangeable lens 'SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN｜Contemporary'. The release date is set for July 11, 2024, with a direct sales price of 79,200 yen (including tax).
'SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN｜Contemporary' is SIGMA's first APS-C mirrorless camera dedicated zoom lens. After announcing the F2.8 zoom lens for Sony E-mount and L-mount, they added a Fujifilm X-mount version in December 2022. It features a bright F2.8 zoom lens while maintaining the portability of APS-C mirrorless cameras.
Further Evolution with Canon RF Compatibility
SIGMA has optimized AF drive and communication speed for the Canon RF mount, developing a dedicated control algorithm. It achieves fast AF and supports Servo AF and in-body aberration correction (for compatible models). The focal length is equivalent to 28.8-80mm in 35mm format, with a lens construction of 10 groups and 13 elements, including 1 SLD and 3 aspherical lenses.
Compact, Lightweight, and High-Functionality
'SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN｜Contemporary' features 7 circular aperture blades with a minimum aperture of F22. The minimum focusing distance is 12.1cm (wide) to 30cm (telephoto), with a maximum magnification of 1:2.8 (wide) to 1:5 (telephoto), and a filter diameter of φ55mm. The mount is sealed with rubber, and the product comes with a petal-shaped hood (LH582-02). The dimensions are φ69.2×74.5mm, and it weighs 300g. Additionally, a 'Mount Conversion Service' (paid) to convert to Canon RF mount will be available starting July 11.
