Canon has announced the 'RF35mm F1.4 L VCM'. This lens is a large aperture prime lens with an open aperture of F1.4, and it is the first product as an RF mount lens. It belongs to the high-end 'L lens' series and boasts image quality equal to or greater than the EF mount version 'EF35mm F1.4L II USM', while reducing the weight by about 27% to approximately 555g.
Innovative Focus Technology for Smooth Video Shooting
The 'RF35mm F1.4 L VCM' adopts an electronic floating focus control combining VCM (Voice Coil Motor) and Nano USM. By driving the heavy large aperture focus lens group with VCM and the lightweight floating lens with the power-saving, compact Nano USM, it achieves fast and smooth focusing. Additionally, it significantly reduces focus breathing, contributing to improved video shooting quality.
Outstanding Lens Configuration and Comprehensive Professional Features
The lens configuration consists of 11 groups and 14 elements, with two UD lenses to correct chromatic aberration and two aspherical lenses to suppress spherical aberration and image distortion. Furthermore, ASC coating reduces ghosting and flare, and fluorine coating protects the frontmost lens. The minimum focusing distance is 0.28m, and the maximum magnification is 0.18x. It also features an 'iris ring' suitable for video shooting, and a control ring for adjusting shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and exposure compensation.
