SIGMA Corporation announces the interchangeable lens 'SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art' for L-Mount and Sony E-Mount. Scheduled release date is April 18, 2024. Open price, direct sales price is 242,000 yen (tax included).

Advanced Lightweight Design and Smooth Expression with 'F1.2'

This prime standard lens, designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras and part of the Art line, is the lightest 50mm F1.2 lens (AF compatible) for 35mm full-frame. The lens construction consists of 17 elements in 12 groups, incorporating high refractive index glass and four aspherical lenses, achieving weight reduction by thinning each glass to the limit.

Additionally, the floating focus mechanism shortens the overall length of the lens, embodying a compact yet high-performance optical design. This suppresses various aberrations, boasting high resolution from maximum aperture. The aperture uses the company's first 13-blade diaphragm, maintaining circular bokeh while expressing smooth bokeh effects.

Enhanced Autofocus and Usability

The AF drive employs a linear motor HLA, designed with consideration to suppress focus breathing, achieving smooth and fast autofocus. The lens barrel is equipped with a focus mode switch, an AFL button to assign arbitrary functions, a feature to toggle the click feel of the aperture ring, and a lock mechanism for the aperture ring, significantly enhancing user operability.

Furthermore, the lens hood is equipped with a lock function, and with a dust and splash-proof structure and water and oil-repellent coating on the frontmost lens, it maintains high performance even in harsh environments. The L-Mount version is compatible with the separately sold SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11, allowing firmware updates and fine adjustments.
