On October 2, 2023, Canon Inc. announced the upcoming release of 'Image Enhancement Software Version 1.0,' scheduled for late January 2024. This software is designed for Canon's ultra-high sensitivity camera lineup and leverages AI-driven noise reduction processing to enhance image visibility. Pricing is open.
The ultra-high sensitivity camera series (ME20F-SH / ME20F-SHN / ML-105 EF / MS-500) is positioned within Canon’s network camera lineup for applications such as nighttime and long-distance surveillance. In these scenarios, challenges such as decreased image clarity due to low-light noise and haze can increase the risk of missing anomalies. By providing software that enables further image enhancement through AI-powered noise reduction, Canon aims to facilitate rapid situational awareness in critical moments.

Proprietary Deep Learning Image Processing Technology
Canon has developed proprietary deep learning image processing technology, drawing upon its in-house image sensor and optical system expertise, as well as its extensive image database and accumulated knowledge as a camera manufacturer.
By leveraging this technology, Canon has trained its AI on the specific noise characteristics of its ultra-high sensitivity camera series, enabling even greater noise reduction in low-light environments where noise is unavoidable with the camera alone.
