Founded Story
GALLERY GM-1 opened in 1998 in Gakuenmae, Nara, the oldest capital of Japan, as a "free space that accommodates all forms of expression." Gakuenmae is a rich artistic town with many cultural facilities, including the Yamato Bunkakan, Shōhaku Art Museum, and Gakuenmae Hall. At GALLERY GM-1, we not only showcase art but also provide a mini-theater space where performers and audiences can come together to enjoy music, theater, and dance performances.
Message for Visitors
GALLERY GM-1 is located in a quiet residential area, just a 2-minute walk from the station, making it very convenient. The north side of the gallery features large glass panels that allow natural light to flood in. This creates a different atmosphere compared to artificial lighting. You can enjoy various forms of expression, including three-dimensional works, flat pieces, and installations. We also offer rental gallery space. Please feel free to contact us anytime.
