여름만 되면 소문이 무성해지는 동네 ‘곤지암’. 그 실체를 직접 확인하고자, 한여름 늦은 오후 이곳에 내려 약 두 시간 동안 구석구석을 돌아봤다. 그런데 이게 웬걸. 그날 내가 마주한 것은 죽은 자들의 음산한 공포가 아니라, ‘산 자’들이 도란도란 살아가는 온기였다. 저는 일상을 살아가면서 우리가 무심코 놓치는 것들, 혹은 멍하니 있다가 문득 마주하게 되는 순간들을 사진으로 담고, 그 위에 짧은 글을 덧붙이는 작업을 하고 있습니다. “작업의 목표가 있나요?”라고 물으신다면, 사실 거창하거나 뚜렷한 목표를 두고 있지는 않아요. 다만 기회가 된다면, 이렇게 일상에서 길어 올린 소소한 장면들을 가지고 사람들과 함께 밤새 이야기를 나누는 시간을 가져보고 싶어요. 그리고 가능하다면… 가벼운 술 한잔이 곁들여지면 더 좋을 것 같고요. (웃음)
