OM Digital Solutions has announced the compact and lightweight super telephoto zoom lens "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II". The release date is March 1, 2025. The expected market price is 231,000 yen (including tax), and a limited set including the 1.4x teleconverter "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14" will be sold for 240,625 yen (including tax).

This lens has evolved from previous models and now supports 5-axis sync image stabilization, significantly reducing shake during super telephoto shooting and providing more stable handheld shooting. It also features IPX1-equivalent splashproof performance and a dustproof design, making it a highly reliable model suitable for outdoor and harsh environments.

Super Telephoto Shooting up to 1600mm Equivalent

The "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II" is a super telephoto zoom lens equivalent to 200-800mm in 35mm format. Additionally, by combining it with the 1.4x teleconverter "MC-14" or the 2x teleconverter "MC-20", shooting up to 1600mm equivalent is possible.

It also achieves a minimum shooting distance of 1.3m across the entire zoom range, supporting telemacro photography such as bird and insect photography. At the telephoto end (400mm), it boasts a high close-up shooting capability with a maximum shooting magnification equivalent to 0.57x.

It excels in optical performance, adopting four ED lenses, two super HR lenses, and two HR lenses. Additionally, ZERO coating suppresses ghosting and flare, achieving clear depiction even under backlight.

5-Axis Sync Image Stabilization for Handheld Shooting

The most significant evolution point of this lens is the newly equipped 5-axis sync image stabilization function. When combined with compatible OM SYSTEM bodies, it achieves up to 7.0 stops of image stabilization.

Especially in handheld shooting at super telephoto ranges, even slight blurs can have a significant impact, but the 5-axis sync image stabilization stabilizes the viewfinder image, making it easier to accurately capture subjects. It also demonstrates high stability in panning shots using slow shutter speeds and in low-light shooting. This allows for sharp photos to be taken handheld without using a tripod.

Design Optimal for Outdoor Use

This lens is equipped with IPX1-equivalent splashproof performance and a dustproof design, ensuring reliable use even in harsh environments. The frontmost lens surface is fluorine-coated, allowing for easy removal of water droplets and dirt.

Additionally, it features a focus limit switch that allows the AF drive range to be switched in three stages according to the shooting distance, enabling quick focusing on subjects even at super telephoto ranges.
