SONY α7 III Basic Information

Equipped with an approximately 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor, it achieves a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity performance. With 693 phase-detection AF points covering about 93% of the image area and 425 contrast AF points, it enables fast and precise autofocus.

The standard ISO sensitivity supports up to 51,200, allowing for low-noise shooting even in low-light environments. Additionally, it features a 5-axis in-body image stabilization system to effectively reduce blur during handheld shooting. Furthermore, it can shoot continuously at up to 10 frames per second with AF/AE tracking, capturing fast-moving subjects reliably.

Choosing a Camera

I use a mirrorless camera, primarily with prime lenses. When with small children, the lower perspective makes a compact mirrorless more convenient. Also, being close to children all the time, I don't feel much need for zoom lenses.

I chose my camera and lenses with the focus on capturing children.

Unique Expressions with Lenses

Using prime lenses, I discovered the joy of finding my favorite or necessary angle of view. Each focal length has a unique perspective, and being aware of these differences provides an opportunity to engage with the question of how to express what you want to capture.

Recently, I've been experimenting with old lenses. Thinking about what scenes the previous users of these lenses might have seen evokes a sense of romance. The thought that these lenses might be passed on from me to someone else makes me appreciate the timeless appeal of camera equipment that continues to be loved across generations.

The charm of old lenses lies in their flare, bokeh, and unique color rendering. Now that I can shape my vision through photo editing, I have the leisure to enjoy the natural phenomena produced by lenses. The moment when editing skills and the flavor of old lenses intersect to create new works is irresistibly enjoyable.

How to Express What You Want to Capture

Even the simple act of focusing can be enjoyable with old lenses. Even photos where the focus isn't perfect can appear charming in some way. Of course, there's an indescribable satisfaction in capturing a perfectly focused shot.

No matter what equipment you use, the question of 'How to express what you want to capture' ultimately remains important. As long as I continue to hold onto this question, my photographic expression will continue to expand.
