This time, I'm sharing a slightly retro topic and personal experience. Recently, I took some snaps using 'Kodak Gold 200' and requested mail-in development from Suzuki Shokai.

What is Kodak Gold 200?

'Kodak Gold 200' is a color negative film known for its excellent color reproduction and soft tones. It is affordably priced among medium format color films and can be used in a wide range of shooting scenes.

Development Lab: Suzuki Shokai

Suzuki Shokai is a development lab located in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. They offer mail-in development services at a very reasonable price, starting at 600 yen per roll of film. They also provide development and web data delivery starting at 900 yen (as of June 2024).

Process Until Receipt

This time, I sent the film and order form via mail using a letter pack. Once the film arrives, development is completed in 1-2 days, and a link for data delivery is sent via email. Simply download the data from the link to complete the process. If you wish to have the negatives returned, choose the option for development + data delivery + negative return, CD (800 yen).

Sample Introduction

The camera used was 'Mamiya 645'. The 'Kodak Gold 200' used is characterized by its vivid colors and natural skin tone reproduction, making it perfect for landscape and portrait photography. This characteristic was well reflected in this snap shooting.

How was it?
For first-timers, mail-in development might feel unfamiliar, but the analog process of handwriting addresses can be somewhat emotional. If you're having trouble with film development, give Suzuki Shokai a try.
