Ricoh Imaging Company has announced that the PENTAX 'Film Camera Project' is now in the development phase toward commercialization. The announcement was made on March 1, 2024.
Overcoming Development Challenges and Progressing Toward Product Launch
After overcoming numerous challenges such as sourcing specialized components required for film camera manufacturing, passing down technical expertise, and addressing the current state of film and processing labs, the company has revealed that it is now able to develop a film camera suited for contemporary needs. The release is scheduled for summer 2024.
Following the CP+2024 event, details of the product under development have been unveiled. On the project page, a new YouTube video featuring Mr. TKO from the PENTAX team has been released, providing an in-depth introduction to the main specifications of the upcoming model.
