DJI JAPAN Co., Ltd. has unveiled the powerful new 'DJI Air 3,' a groundbreaking addition to the Air series equipped with two main cameras. Sales begin July 25, 2023, with pricing from ¥129,800 (tax included).

This evolved all-in-one drone features two cameras, both capable of capturing 48MP stills and 4K/60fps HDR video, delivering crisp detail and high-quality footage with ease. With a maximum flight time of 46 minutes, omnidirectional obstacle sensing[2], and the O4 HD video transmission system, the Air 3 boasts flagship-level features designed to inspire the creativity of aerial photography enthusiasts.

Dual-Camera System for Distinctive Visual Expression

Weighing just 720g, the lightweight and compact body houses both a wide-angle camera and a 3x zoom medium telephoto camera, each equipped with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor. While both cameras share the same sensor size, their differing focal lengths enable diverse visual expressions while maintaining consistent image quality.

Both cameras support dual native ISO and can output 4K/60fps HDR video directly, covering up to 4K/100fps video specs. For the first time in the Air series, 2.7K vertical shooting (9:16) is supported, allowing creators to instantly share content on social media platforms.

Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing and O4 Transmission for Safe Takeoff and Landing

The Air series now features omnidirectional obstacle sensing for the first time. Two fisheye lenses on the front and rear enable detection in all directions—front, back, left, right, and above—while binocular lenses and a 3D ToF sensor on the underside provide robust all-around obstacle detection.

Upon detecting obstacles, the drone utilizes APAS 5.0 to actively and smoothly avoid or bypass them, ensuring a high-quality flight experience without interrupting shooting. The ActiveTrack function enables automated flight with simple controls, and when combined with Advanced RTH, the drone safely returns to its home point.

The next-generation O4 video transmission system not only achieves a maximum transmission range of 20 km but also enhances stability, minimizing issues such as live view stutter for safer flights. It supports live streaming at up to 1080p/60fps and high frame rates, ensuring smooth and reliable real-time monitoring.

Intelligent Features

FocusTrack Supported on Both Cameras

The FocusTrack suite—comprising Spotlight 2.0, ActiveTrack 5.0, and Point of Interest 3.0—keeps subjects centered in the frame. Using the 3x zoom medium telephoto camera, creators can achieve a unique compression effect, capturing cinematic shots that make subjects stand out.

QuickShots

Creative camera movements such as Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Boomerang, and Asteroid are available for dynamic visual storytelling.

2.7K Vertical Shooting

Both onboard cameras support 2.7K vertical shooting. The wide-angle camera captures expansive scenes with rich visual information, while the medium telephoto camera delivers bold, impactful vertical aerial footage. 2.7K vertical videos can be instantly shared on social media without the need for cropping or post-editing.

MasterShots

Automatically captures multiple clips with various camera movements, edits the footage, and adds music, enabling creators to quickly and easily produce cinematic videos.

Night Mode

With advanced noise reduction algorithms, the Air 3 can capture clean footage at up to 4K/30fps even in low-light environments.

Hyperlapse

Choose from four modes—Free, Circle, Course Lock, and Waypoint—to create time-lapse videos. (Up to 4K in horizontal orientation, up to 2.7K in vertical orientation)

Slow Motion

Select either 4K/100fps or 1080p/100fps to capture 4x slow-motion video directly.

SmartPhoto 3.0

In Single Shot mode, the DJI Air 3 defaults to SmartPhoto 3.0, automatically selecting from HDR, HyperLight, or Scene Recognition based on the shooting scenario to capture optimal aerial photographs. The HDR DNG format leverages in-camera contrast enhancement technology to record a broader dynamic range.

QuickTransfer

Quickly and easily download photos and videos from the drone to your smartphone via wireless connection.

Waypoint Flight

For the first time in the Air series, Waypoint Flight is supported. By pre-planning flight routes and shooting actions, complex camera movements can be executed automatically in a single take. Routes can be saved and precisely repeated at different times or on different days, enabling unique long-term time-lapse footage capturing transitions from day to night or across seasons.
