Nikon Imaging Japan Inc. has announced the full-frame/FX-format mirrorless camera “Nikon Z 8,” which adopts the Nikon Z mount. The camera will be available from May 26, 2023. Pricing is open.
The “Nikon Z 8” achieves a 30% reduction in size compared to the Nikon Z series “Nikon Z 9,” while maintaining equivalent features and performance. It offers outstanding mobility, subject acquisition, and image rendering for both stills and video, enabling agile shooting in a wide range of scenarios. The camera is designed for a broad spectrum of photographers and visual creators.
The NIKKOR Z lenses compatible with the Z mount include both prime and zoom lenses covering a wide focal length range from 14mm to 1600mm. These lenses deliver exceptional sharpness and clarity even at maximum aperture. Their high level of quietness and minimized focus breathing make them well-suited for video production.
Exceptional Mobility for Versatile Shooting
With a compact body approximately 30% smaller in volume than the “Nikon Z 9,” the camera condenses advanced features and performance to achieve outstanding mobility. It enables stable shooting for both stills and video across diverse situations.
A New Standard for Mirrorless Cameras: Mechanical Shutter-Free Design
Equipped with a stacked CMOS sensor, as found in the “Nikon Z 9,” which minimizes rolling shutter distortion. The absence of a mechanical shutter allows for silent operation and enables high-volume shooting without concern for shutter wear.
HEIF Format for Rich Tonal Expression and Smooth Gradation
Shooting in HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) enables images with rich tonal gradation, such as sunsets, and city nightscapes with wide dynamic range, minimizing blown highlights and crushed blacks.
Long Recording Times Ideal for Events and Documentary Work
Capable of extended recording in 4K UHD 60p and 8K UHD 30p video. With a more compact and lightweight body than the “Nikon Z 9,” the camera offers high mobility, making it suitable for all-day event coverage and long-form documentary production.
