Threads, the text-based social platform from Meta, is filled with creative posts shared from around the world every day.
find new pieces is a discovery project that uncovers outstanding photos from the countless creations posted on Threads and shares their appeal through our magazine. Each edition sets a theme and brings together photos from around the world, helping us discover talent we have yet to encounter.
Every so often, cizucu shares a photo theme on Threads.
To take part, simply reply with a photo that fits the theme.
There’s just one requirement: follow cizucu on social media 💙
The cizucu editorial team will message the selected photographers directly!
This time, we’re featuring eight photos selected from the many entries submitted from around the world.
Let’s see how each photographer brought their own perspective and sensibility to the theme.
The surface of water, a window, a mirror, or a rain-soaked street.
Whenever light meets a surface, it creates another view right in front of us.
A city’s wavering outline, overlapping figures, a moment suspended somewhere between reality and illusion. Reflections can turn an everyday scene into a slightly different world.
What appears there is more than what’s happening in front of the camera. A sense of what lies beyond the light, along with the photographer’s own way of seeing, quietly finds its way into the photo.
What kind of “other view” did you discover?
Show us a moment where reality and reflection meet.

This photo captures a view reflected in the glass of Atlantis, an installation at Great Harbor Bridge in Kaohsiung. A swirling school of fish merges with the harbor architecture, transforming the real scene into a dreamlike underwater world. By making clever use of the installation’s glass, the photographer brings out both the story of the place and a vivid sense of life in motion.

Puddles left on the road quietly reflect the bare trees above. Scattered across the frame, they begin to look like small windows opening from the ground onto the sky. The monochrome grain and texture of the wet pavement make you feel the cold air after the rain.

Waves distort the reflection of a ship, turning the view into an abstract image. The white hull and colors of the sky dissolve into the deep blue, while the huge vessel emerges without a fixed shape. This bold crop plays with our sense of up and down and brings out the visual appeal of reflections.

Tokyo Tower and its reflection rise on either side of the central divide as two separate views. The contrast between the gently wavering reflection and the sharply defined scene gives this familiar landmark an unexpected sense of depth. Red steel, blue sky, trees, and passing figures all echo one another, revealing another world within the city.

The sky and passing figures appear across a curved mirrored surface, as though the architecture itself were rearranging the view. Set against the evening light and dark silhouettes, the pedestrians seem to move back and forth between reality and reflection. The bold framing and deep colors bring out the drama hidden in this urban space.

Two eggs in a white space, together with the faint reflections stretching beneath them, create a quiet rhythm. The high-key light seems to dissolve their outlines, turning familiar objects into something dreamlike and poetic. With plenty of open space around the subjects, the photo conveys the softness of the light and the gentle passage of time.

People reflected in the window overlap with the sea and sky beyond, bringing several moments together in a single frame. The bustle inside the boat, the still horizon, and the low clouds blend into one another, capturing both the excitement of travel and the feeling that lingers afterward. By using the reflection in the glass, the photographer blurs the boundary between inside and outside, giving the photo a strong sense of depth.

A volcano erupts in red beneath the night sky, its glow mirrored across the water on an overwhelming scale. Long star trails and the calm reflection surround the violent burst of the eruption, bringing different stretches of time into the same frame. The flames and the mountain’s silhouette stand out against the darkness, conveying both the force and stillness of nature.
What did you think?
The theme “reflection” can give a familiar view a completely new look through light, angles, and overlapping images. In these entries, we found other worlds created on water, glass, and mirrors. We could also feel the reality each photographer saw, along with the mood and emotion of that particular moment.
find new pieces is about discovering talent we have yet to encounter. We hope this project gives your photography a chance to reach more people and stay with them.
Keep an eye out for the next theme.
