Creators who are passionate about photography share their stories of cameras and the memories they hold. A “beloved camera” reflects each individual’s worldview and values. In this installment, we feature fuyu, who has long cherished the FUJIFILM X-T2.
Even as high-performance cameras continue to debut, there are many who are drawn to a camera they always want to take with them. There’s a certain feeling that makes you want to shoot—something that can’t be explained by specs alone. This time, we delve into why the FUJIFILM X-T2, with its signature color science and effortless portability, continues to captivate so many.
FUJIFILM X-T2 | Overview
The FUJIFILM X-T2 is an APS-C mirrorless camera released by Fujifilm in 2016. Equipped with a 24.3-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor and the high-speed X-Processor Pro image engine, it delivers high-resolution, film-like color reproduction.
The First Camera That Made My Heart Flutter
Usually, I take photos with a spontaneous, “this is great!” or “how lovely!” kind of vibe.
My encounter with the FUJIFILM X-T2 began because it was originally my husband’s beloved camera. After we started dating, I gradually began to use it more often.
At the time, I was using a SONY α6000, but the vivid colors straight out of the camera when I first shot with FUJIFILM truly amazed me.

I still remember how my heart would skip a beat every time I pressed the shutter and checked the monitor.
I also loved the all-black, slightly mechanical body design.
Always Returning to This Lens
The lens attached was the FUJINON XF35mmF1.4 R. At first, I just thought, “So it’s about a 50mm equivalent—seems easy to use.” But the more I tried different lenses, the more I found myself coming back to this one.
It’s bright, renders beautiful colors, and creates soft, pleasing bokeh.
It’s impossible not to enjoy shooting with it.

Looking back, I’m really glad that my first Fujifilm lens was this one.
There’s a certain gentleness to the rendering, making even the most ordinary moments of daily life feel special.

The Importance of Shooting Casually
The delicate rendering of the GFX50S II I use now continues to amaze me every day.
Still, the X-T2 remains special.
It’s light, easy to grab and go, and lets you shoot on a whim.
That effortless quality is something I’ll always cherish.

I don’t overthink things—I just keep shooting with that same spontaneous vibe.
But the reason I could keep going like that was, without a doubt, thanks to this camera.

Without overcomplicating the act of taking photographs, the X-T2 is always there for you the moment you feel, “I want to shoot.”
It’s a camera I’d recommend not only to those looking for a secondary body, but also to anyone wondering, “What should my first camera be?”—it’s definitely worth picking up at least once.
