The is an exhibition series organized by cizucu across the globe. By simply submitting your photographs to cizucu, you can participate in the photo poster project exhibition and connect with fellow photographers you have yet to meet.
The is run in collaboration with volunteer staff members from various regions worldwide. Each staff member, with their unique background, brings their own passion to help shape this platform. In this feature, we spoke with Maochi, a creator who is actively involved as a staff member.
Please introduce yourself!
My name is Maochi. I work as an illustrator and hair colorist, and I also enjoy photography as a hobby.
I’m particularly drawn to candid snapshots that capture the warmth and everyday moments of people’s lives. Recently, I’ve started practicing portraiture with the theme of “being myself.” I love engaging in conversation and am confident in my communication skills!
I began working as a staff member with the from my second time participating in the exhibition.
What was your impression when you first participated in the ppp?
It was my very first time taking part in an exhibition, so I was quite nervous on the day. However, once I joined the setup at the gallery, the staff members warmly welcomed me, and I was able to relax and connect with everyone right away.
At the exhibition space, there were both seasoned participants and first-timers like myself, ranging from professionals to amateurs. Yet, everyone fostered a warm atmosphere of mutual respect and recognition. I remember feeling truly reassured by that environment.
As a staff member, what do you think makes the ppp unique?
I feel that the is not just about showcasing work for others to see, but about creating a space where everyone acknowledges each other, shares positive feedback, and leaves with new inspiration. It’s a genuinely welcoming event.
What I found most compelling was the “messages of love.” Whether it’s highlighting what you appreciated, what you liked, or simply expressing your heartfelt impressions—everyone takes the time to reflect on each artwork and share their feelings. Later, when you receive those messages, it warms your heart all over again. I think it’s wonderful that this exchange happens naturally, without any obligation, and that everyone participates so genuinely.
As a staff member, what is something you personally value?
In my role as staff, I strive to “ensure no one feels bored” and to “imagine the lives and backgrounds of participants when engaging with them.”
Everyone feels nervous at first, and there’s no need for unnecessary formality or one-upmanship. I want to cherish the joy of sharing your favorite photograph with fellow photography enthusiasts.
What do you find most rewarding about supporting the ppp?
Every time a participant tells me, “I had a great time today,” or “Thanks to you, Maochi, I was able to relax and enjoy the conversation,” I feel a deep sense of fulfillment! That’s because my top priority is ensuring everyone has a good time.
I’ve always loved connecting with people, but engaging with participants through the brings a unique sense of joy and enrichment. Meeting people through a shared love of photography and cameras, and being able to discuss artworks face-to-face—it doesn’t get better than that!
Have you had any particularly memorable experiences so far?
I’ve participated many times, and I’ve formed many connections that go beyond just the . We’ve gone on photo walks together, bonded over other hobbies or work, inspired each other on social media, and even gone out for parfaits after the event!
Regardless of age or gender, the project fosters connections that extend far beyond the exhibition itself. That sense of “human warmth” is what makes the so special.
