cizucu hosts the photo poster project in cities around the world.
By simply posting a photo on cizucu, creators can take part in a physical photo poster exhibition and meet fellow photographers they may not have encountered otherwise.
In this issue, we spoke with Yamedre, who joined the photo poster project, about their story, what drew them to the exhibition, and the photograph they chose to display.
Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Andres Widener (YameDre). I’m a 28-year-old photographer from Arizona, USA. I specialize in horror, but I also love photographing all kinds of subjects.
Why did you decide to participate?
Since I’m planning to move to Japan in two years, I wanted to gain experience and meet other artists face to face. I know many models and photographers in Japan, but I rarely get to meet them in person.
I also wanted to share an American perspective on photography, and hopefully be a positive influence for Japanese artists.
How was the experience?
It was amazing. Everyone, from the organizers to the photographers, was so kind and welcoming. I’m very fortunate to have been given this opportunity, and I will forever remember this experience.
Why did you choose this photograph?
I wanted to offer a different perspective on art. We often see beautiful photos, but horror and macabre styles are rarely showcased. I wanted to show that the dark and mysterious can be just as captivating and beautiful as any other style of photography.
Message to those considering joining photo poster project
It is worth it. You get to meet so many amazing people and gain inspiration from others, as well as understanding how and why other artists love what they do. The more you can open your mind to different genres of photography, the more creative and fun it can be.
