Please introduce yourself!

I've been into photography for six years. My name is Aco, and I mainly capture landscapes in Kanto, Kansai, and Nagano.

Chasing seasonal scenic spots, I travel east and west. Depending on the weather, flowers, or autumn leaves, I often decide on the spur of the moment, even the day before, and drive off alone. Recently, I've been captivated by mountain landscapes and have started hiking. From now on, I aim to capture breathtaking views both from the ground and above the clouds.

What motivated you to participate?

The event was held in Kyoto, a place I often visit for photography and where my husband's family home is located. When I received the opportunity from cizucu, I thought it was fate and decided to participate in a photo exhibition for the first time.

Everything was a first! Above all, the simplicity of just selecting and sending the works I wanted to exhibit was the biggest attraction, making it easy to participate.

Also, I had never printed my photos on such a large scale before, so exhibiting them in A2 poster size was both exciting and an opportunity to see how much detail would stand out (laughs) and how well the reproduction quality would be. It was a great experience.

How was your experience participating?

All I had to do was apply and show up at the venue on the day. I was a bit anxious, wondering if my photos would really be displayed, but seeing my work as an A2 poster at the venue made me think, "Not bad at all!" (laughs) and I was thrilled.

There was also a gallery talk where I had to speak about my work in front of everyone, which made me nervous. However, being able to share what I usually convey through text on social media in my own words and feeling everyone's reactions was a valuable experience. Most importantly, interacting with other participants was an irreplaceable and precious experience.

Why did you choose that particular photo?

The theme this time was . Since the event was held in Kyoto, I initially chose a photo of a Kyoto-like landscape from Sagano. However, when I thought about what represents my current self, my heart was drawn to the mountains, so I selected a photo of the morning glow (Morgenrot) coloring the mountain slopes red along with autumn leaves.

The photo exhibited this time

The location is Kagami Pond in Nagano. Since the photo exhibition was held a few weeks before the autumn foliage season, I wanted to share and showcase such a beautiful scene with everyone. I was also able to talk about the behind-the-scenes story of shooting in the middle of the night, which made me very satisfied.

For those considering participating in the photo poster project

The simplicity is unbeatable!! Even a beginner like me could complete the application with just a few actions on a smartphone. Then, all you have to do is show up at the venue on the day, and your work will shine as part of the photo exhibition.

The creators who participate come from various age groups, genres, and levels of experience.
However, since everyone shares a love for photography, you can have casual and enjoyable conversations with them, making it a very meaningful time. In my session, everyone except me was from the Kansai region, but we exchanged information about shooting spots and had a valuable time.

Whether you don't have photography friends around, want to share your work, or just want to talk about photography—anyone interested in cameras and photography can enjoy this event. So, please give it a try!!
