Stories of creators who love photography and their cameras. A “beloved camera” often reflects one’s perspective on life and values. In this feature, we introduce Remm, a devoted user of the fully waterproof camera, OLYMPUS Tough TG-6.
Guided by instinct, Remm chases the moments they want to capture, sharing the seasonal stories built with the OLYMPUS Tough TG-6. As waterproof cameras gain attention for summer outdoor and water activities, Remm expands their subjects beyond underwater scenes to snow and ice crystals, showcasing their curiosity and the remarkable journey with their beloved camera.
OLYMPUS Tough TG-6: Key Features
Released on July 26, 2019, the OLYMPUS Tough TG-6 is a compact digital camera equipped with a 12-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 25–100mm in 35mm format) with an aperture range of F2.0–F4.9. It boasts exceptional durability, including waterproofing up to 15m, shock resistance up to 2.1m drops, and freeze resistance down to -10°C. The camera also features a microscope mode for close-ups as near as 1cm, 4K 30p video recording, and HD high-speed shooting at 120fps.
The Freedom of Fully Waterproof Photography
I purchased this camera just last summer, driven by a desire to try underwater photography. The deciding factors were its complete waterproofing and its toughness, withstanding up to 100kgf of pressure. Its rugged build gives me peace of mind, even with rough handling.
Additionally, it supports RAW shooting, ensuring high-quality images for reviewing on a PC or printing. The freedom to shoot without worrying about getting wet or dirty naturally expands the range of activities I can enjoy.

Strength to Brave Winter Ice
This camera isn’t just for summer—it’s been a star for macro photography in winter too. During a trip to Hokkaido, I brought the lens close to icicles that had formed under a house.
The bubbles trapped in the ice displayed entirely different expressions depending on where I shot them. It felt like capturing nature’s sculptures, resulting in fascinating and mesmerizing photos.

Sometimes, I even plunge the camera directly into the snow to take pictures. Normally, this would be a nerve-wracking idea, but the waterproof design makes it possible. With a built-in flash, it captures even dark scenes in vivid detail.

Viewing Crystals from the Other Side
When frost formed on my car’s windshield, I used the flash from behind to capture the crystals. It’s a perspective you’d never see in everyday life. The intricate patterns of the ice appeared ethereal and stunning.
The combination of macro and waterproof capabilities opens up endless possibilities for capturing unique and extraordinary shots.

Moments Only Captured Underwater
One of my favorite shots is of bubbles rising dramatically the moment I stepped into a river. I held the camera underwater, aiming upward, creating a composition as if I had dived in.
The sunlight reflecting off the water, combined with the sparkling bubbles, created a scene that only this camera could capture. It’s a fleeting brilliance that ordinary cameras can never achieve.

Discovering a World Beyond the Ordinary
Since I started using this camera, I feel like I’ve stepped into a world that ordinary cameras can’t capture.
This summer, I plan to take it to rivers and oceans again, capturing countless “once-in-a-lifetime” scenes. The sights made possible by a waterproof camera subtly shape the memories of each season.
