Creators who love photography share their stories with their cameras. The presence of a "beloved camera" reflects each person's life perspective and values. In this series, we feature me.., who loves using the Nikon D7000.

As the era shifted from film to digital, me.. went through trial and error, sharing the charm of the Nikon D7000 and their trust in a camera equipped with only the necessary features. They continuously pondered the functions required for snapshot photography, striving and learning with their beloved camera to discover the truly essential features.

Encounter with the Camera

My history with photography is quite long if you include the film era, and I first touched a camera in junior high school.

Back then, I didn't think about what photography was; I just took pictures without much thought.

And as my student days ended, I distanced myself from photography.

Reunion

In my 40s, when I first saw a digital camera at an electronics store, I felt an impulse and picked up a camera. At that time, I didn't know what a digital camera was, and I bought the Nikon D7000 without understanding much.

Since I bought it as soon as it was released (October 29, 2010), my digital photography history is now 15 years.

Days of Trial and Error

Back then, I didn't understand JPG and RAW, full-frame and APS-C, or development software, and I was experimenting through trial and error.

Posting a photo on a certain site led me to touch the fundamental aspects of what photography is. I found photos that intrigued me on various sites, mimicked them, and learned various things in my own way.

During that time, the D7000 was like a friend by my side, and it was the D7000 that taught me photography.

With My Beloved Camera

The D7000 is APS-C, and Nikon's position is mid-range.
While I admired the performance of full-frame cameras, I worked hard with my beloved D7000 to achieve expressions surpassing higher-end models and leave results.

I achieved results in various contests and felt triumphant with my beloved camera.
At that time, I began to think about what a camera is, realizing that a camera is a tool and that excessive features are unnecessary.

Necessary Features

Higher-end models are packed with various features and are appealing, but when it comes to actual shooting, especially snapshots, there's a sense of being distracted by them.

For snapshots, I believe the rule is to intuitively capture the scene.
When shooting intuitively, if there's a time lag between the photographer and the camera, you might miss the perfect scene.

Considering these aspects, mid-range models are actually more user-friendly and easier to handle than high-functioning higher-end models.
It was my beloved D7000 at the time that made me realize this.

Photography... casual, casual, you have to enjoy it. If you can't take good photos, it's okay to put the camera down. But, when I press the shutter, I'm super serious. Developing photos while having a drink is pure happiness~.
