Creators who love photography share their stories with their cameras. The presence of a 'beloved camera' reflects each person's worldview and values. In this series, Yuzuha, who loves the PENTAX SP, appears.

Recently, film cameras have been experiencing a resurgence. Their unique texture and rich photos evoke a nostalgic feeling, turning everyday moments into something special.

PENTAX SP Basic Information

The PENTAX SP is a single-lens reflex camera released by Ricoh Imaging in 1964. Officially named the 'Asahi Pentax Spotmatic,' it gained popularity as a mechanical camera using 35mm film. The PENTAX SP is notable for its built-in spot metering feature and innovative exposure meter.

It uses an M42 screw mount, with shutter speeds ranging from bulb to 1/1000 seconds, and all operations are completely manual. Known for its robust metal body and classic design, the PENTAX SP is recognized as a groundbreaking presence in the history of SLR cameras.

The Sound that Captures Space

I've been into photography for about four and a half years, but in the past year, I've been shooting more with film cameras.

The camera I use is the PENTAX SP, my first film camera purchase.

There are many types of film cameras, but the reason I bought this one was its 'appearance' and 'shutter sound.' I love the classic look and the 'clunk' of the shutter, which led me to buy it. Personally, 'appearance' and 'shutter sound' are major factors in choosing a camera.

Atmosphere

When I shoot with film (or look at film photos), I sometimes feel like I'm capturing the 'time and atmosphere' as they are.

This photo was taken during a morning walk along the riverbank. A boy was practicing soccer on his own and taking a short break, but somehow you can feel his 'desire to improve.' Digital cameras capture images clearly, but I think the ambiguity of film reflects the atmosphere of the moment.

Embracing Mistakes

This photo was taken when I went to see the first sunrise of the year. It was a dim time of day, so I shot it at a shutter speed of 1/15. I thought I had stabilized my arms to avoid blur, but it ended up blurry anyway (laughs).
However, even when it's blurry, there's something about film that makes you think, 'This is nice, I can love this.' The scenery and feelings of the moment somehow come through, making even a failed shot a cherished one.

Thank you for reading this far!

I believe film cameras can capture something different from digital. Because the number of shots is limited, you can face each one with care, preserving important people and moments. If you have the chance, I encourage everyone to experience 'capturing on film.'
