The factory nightscapes of the Sakai-Semboku Coastal Industrial Zone are among the most renowned in Japan. Massive plants are densely clustered, and there are numerous vantage points from which to appreciate the industrial night view from various angles. Once a symbol of urban development, these factory districts now evoke a fantastical, sci-fi-like atmosphere, telling a story of history and evolution.

At Daisen Japanese Garden, which opened in 1989, you can discover a spectrum of natural colors throughout the seasons. Despite being Osaka’s second largest city, this location offers beautiful nature and expansive skies. It is also renowned as a cultural landmark in Sakai, hosting tea ceremonies and other events.

For about 200 years from the Muromachi period, the Sakai area flourished as a natural fishing port. Although the fishing industry has declined, the Old Sakai Lighthouse, built in the Meiji era at a site once bustling with boats, remains. Even after land reclamation ended the boat traffic, the lighthouse continues to be cherished as a symbol of Sakai, illuminating the hearts of its residents.
