This work beautifully captures a quintessentially Japanese green scene with a sense of humidity. The unique appeal of the half-frame camera, with two images from different times juxtaposed in a single frame, is evident here. If you look closely at the photo on the right, you can spot a person almost immersed in the river.

A man stands alone, fishing under an umbrella amidst deep greenery. There are no visible paths or boats nearby. The work evokes the imagination, as if the person, captivated by nature and fishing, has found his own secret hideaway. This piece most aptly embodied the theme of ‘appreciating the deepening summer’, and was therefore selected as the awarded artwork.
In Closing
We hope you enjoyed this feature.
All the submitted works were green, yet each captured a unique expression—moments and places that can only be seen then and there. We believe it became a wonderful contest, truly befitting a celebration of summer’s arrival.
We plan to hold more contests themed around color, so please look forward to them!
Take care for the rest of the summer, and have a nice Green Day!
