A wild bird, a quiet branch, and one moment in the morning light

At first light by the water, a small bird settles on a slender branch, pale gold catching in its feathers. The wind moves across the surface and distant calls rise through the cool air. A quick wingbeat or slight turn of the head can make the moment feel entirely its own. Leave room for the far bank, and the branch, water, and morning hush become part of the portrait. Tiny points of light linger in the plumage.
