Introduction
Glass artist Caroline, who is also a colleague, and I gradually began sharing our thoughts about our works and expressions during our daily work.
One day, she asked me, 'Would you like to hold an exhibition together?' I was surprised and delighted, and I immediately replied, 'Yes!' That was the beginning.
What kind of space would be created by displaying her glass works alongside my landscape photography? My heart raced at the thought of this first-ever attempt that no one had seen before.

Based in Osaka. Received a camera from her father in the year she started working. Although it remained unused for a while, she began taking photos after visiting a photography exhibition in 2020. She focuses on capturing landscapes, aiming to convey the beauty of moments she experiences in nature. She has participated multiple times in 'ppp,' organized by cizucu. This is her first two-person exhibition.

While working in product development at a manufacturer in Osaka, she began creating blown glass works in 2020. In 2024, she held her first solo exhibition, 'Transparency and Turbidity.' She mainly creates glassware for enjoying drinks, showcasing a free-spirited style inspired by the beautiful scenery reflected in her heart and the natural forms created by transparent glass.

Preparing for the Exhibition
As we prepared for the exhibition, Caroline, the gallery owner, and I reflected on last year's glass exhibition and brainstormed ideas like 'What kind of space would it create if we incorporated photography?' Ideas kept flowing, such as 'Should we display the photos and glass separately?' or 'What if we place glass within the photos?' However, we also faced challenges in figuring out how to integrate unfinished works into the exhibition.
Even when I took landscape photos, something felt missing. I couldn't go back to retake those moments, and I struggled with the limitations of where to place the glass. I continued exploring my own concept of 'Photo Glass.'

Message to Visitors
Caroline's glassworks are all handmade, each with unique colors and shapes. The way the material creates ripples and the way light passes through are incredibly beautiful, making you want to hold them up to the light or view them from different angles.
What kind of photos could be taken if Caroline's works were placed in nature? I experimented with changing compositions and angles of the glass. I hope you enjoy 'Photo Glass.'
