The CONTAX RTS II is a professional 35mm single-lens reflex camera released in 1982. It featured cutting-edge technology for its time, including a titanium shutter, TTL flash metering, and quartz control, and targeted the high-end market competing with the Leica R series. Its robust construction and excellent handling earned high praise from professional photographers and photography enthusiasts.

How to use · Loading film can be somewhat tricky because the sleeve may not hold the film leader securely. The shutter button is extremely sensitive and has no half-press, so care is needed. Exposure is checked with the button on the front of the body. The AE lock function lets you lock the exposure value indefinitely. Even when the battery is dead, the 1/50-second mechanical shutter can still be used.

Watchouts · The shutter sound is somewhat louder than that of modern cameras. The electronic shutter and exposure control depend entirely on the battery, and stop functioning when the battery runs down. As manufacturer support has ended, repairs may be difficult. The shutter button is very sensitive and has no half-press, so care is needed to avoid accidental operation.
