Full frame / 24.2MP / IBIS / 1115g

The first flagship model in the EOS R system, designed to meet the high demands of professionals. Inheriting the high reliability and durability of the EOS-1D X Mark III, it achieves outstanding performance and reliability for both stills and video through the newly developed Accelerated Capture imaging engine system and deep-learning technology. It was developed as a professional “tool” for capturing decisive moments in demanding shooting environments such as news and sports.

How to use · With its newly developed image engine system and evolved AF system, Dual Pixel Intelligent AF, the EOS R1 captures subjects quickly and accurately and keeps tracking them tenaciously. It delivers high tracking performance even in team sports, where subjects frequently cross paths. The electronic shutter enables high-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 40 fps, while rolling shutter distortion is significantly reduced. It also features Pre-continuous Shooting, which starts recording up to approximately 20 frames before the shutter button is pressed, so you do not miss decisive moments. In addition, it offers In-camera Upscaling, which generates images of up to approximately 96 megapixels in the camera, and 5-axis in-body image stabilization providing up to 8.5 stops of correction.

Watchouts · Eye-controlled AF may not be available when using sunglasses, mirrored sunglasses, hard contact lenses, or bifocal/progressive glasses, or depending on eye conditions (such as narrow eyes, long eyelashes, or thick eyelids) and the shooting environment. Pre-continuous shooting cannot be used when the shutter speed is slower than 0.5 seconds, during AEB shooting, flash shooting, flicker-free shooting, or multiple-exposure shooting. Still images recorded during movie shooting are also excluded from in-camera upscaling. Subject recognition accuracy may decrease when people are small in the frame, part of the subject is obscured, or subjects are clustered together.
