I shot this on a pier in Usedom right at the peak of travel season. I’ve always been inspired by how Alex Webb uses strong vertical lines to slice a frame, and here, the central pillar and cable do exactly that. It splits the composition into an almost perfect symmetry, letting two quiet stories play out at once: people chatting on the left, and others gazing out at the sea on the right. I also love the visual rhythm of the white lamps echoing the clouds in the bright blue sky.
