Valentine's Day, 2021. The neighbourhood is filled with people again as COVID measures slowly eased. After so many lives lost to the pandemic, witnessing this elderly couple walking along the pathway, hand in hand, felt endearing to me. It brought to mind the wedding vow — to love and to cherish, till death do us part. On a day often defined by fleeting expressions of romance, their companionship stood as something quieter, more profound: a devoted love shaped by seasons of life, by mutual understanding and respect, by the choice to keep walking side by side.
