For the 2026 Marina Bay Countdown, I stood at the Helix Bridge watching the sky erupt, but I chose to look for the life hidden within the light.  This vertical poster, "Is this a Phoenix?", is a symmetrical re-imagining of that first midnight of 2026. By mirroring the vibrant rainbow fireworks and stacking the architectural icons of Singapore, a mythical silhouette emerged from the data. To some, it is the 'Sovereign Butterfly'—a regal symbol of grace and the quiet metamorphosis into a new and beautiful life. To others, it is a Phoenix rising, fueled by the explosive energy of the city’s celebration.  I chose this title to invite the community to engage with the 'soul' of the image. Whether you see the delicate wings of a butterfly or the fiery ascent of a phoenix, the essence remains the same: a powerful, vertical rise into a new chapter. This piece marks the beginning of a year where we define our own rebirth, spreading our wings over the foundations of the past to soar into a vibrant 2026. | Victor Zhuo]]></title>

          <title><![CDATA[Feral Grace II: Bound, Yet Willing to Fly  Feral Grace is a photographic series created in 2025, consisting of six works. This image is the second piece in the series.  At the beginning of this project, I believed freedom meant the absence of restraint—an escape from all forms of binding. However, through the process of creating this work, my understanding of freedom shifted.  The body in the image is tethered by ropes, suggesting entanglement with reality, emotion, or fate. Birds circle the sky above, embodying instinct, desire, and untamed movement. A red glow pulses beneath the figure, symbolizing an inner force—caught between suppression and momentum.  Freedom, I came to realize, is not defined by being unbound, but by the willingness to move forward despite restraint.             <media:title><![CDATA[Feral Grace II: Bound, Yet Willing to Fly  Feral Grace is a photographic series created in 2025, consisting of six works. This image is the second piece in the series.  At the beginning of this project, I believed freedom meant the absence of restraint—an escape from all forms of binding. However, through the process of creating this work, my understanding of freedom shifted.  The body in the image is tethered by ropes, suggesting entanglement with reality, emotion, or fate. Birds circle the sky above, embodying instinct, desire, and untamed movement. A red glow pulses beneath the figure, symbolizing an inner force—caught between suppression and momentum.  Freedom, I came to realize, is not defined by being unbound, but by the willingness to move forward despite restraint.           <title><![CDATA[Title: Is this a Phoenix?  Story: How do we visualize a new start? For the 2026 Marina Bay Countdown, I stood at the Helix Bridge watching the sky erupt, but I chose to look for the life hidden within the light.  This vertical poster, "Is this a Phoenix?", is a symmetrical re-imagining of that first midnight of 2026. By mirroring the vibrant rainbow fireworks and stacking the architectural icons of Singapore, a mythical silhouette emerged from the data. To some, it is the 'Sovereign Butterfly'—a regal symbol of grace and the quiet metamorphosis into a new and beautiful life. To others, it is a Phoenix rising, fueled by the explosive energy of the city’s celebration.  I chose this title to invite the community to engage with the 'soul' of the image. Whether you see the delicate wings of a butterfly or the fiery ascent of a phoenix, the essence remains the same: a powerful, vertical rise into a new chapter. This piece marks the beginning of a year where we define our own rebirth, spreading our wings over the foundations of the past to soar into a vibrant 2026. | Victor Zhuo]]></title>

At ninety, her presence held both fragility and strength — a living archive of memory, resilience, and grace. In this frame, she sits in stillness while a small cat rests on her shoulder, an unspoken companionship that softens the solitude often associated with aging. The gesture is simple, yet deeply human — care expressed without words.  Gulabi took her last breath in February 2025. This image, and the series as a whole, is one I return to often. It fills me with quiet pride to know that her presence will continue to live on through these photographs for years to come.  The series reflects on aging as a state of dignity rather than decline. It invites us to reconsider what we overlook: the beauty of routine, the intimacy of silence, and the emotional landscapes contained within everyday life.  Moving forward, I hope to continue exploring themes of human consciousness and intergenerational spiritual connection.
