As an international student, I exist within a carefully constructed fiction: the "well-being" I report to my family back home. This series documents the cost of that silence. Through my lens, the abstract weight of anxiety, depression, and frustration is given form. These images serve as a visual bridge between my hidden reality and the outside world—a language for the unspeakable. By revealing the fractured soul behind the facade, I invite the viewer to find their own echoes in my silence. To me, it is thus a memory of that time. As I further explored this place, I took notice of the elderly woman circling around this large display, quietly reciting her prayers with incense in hand. What drew me to this scene in particular is how shooting through the plastic cover (made to shelter the place) helped blur the detail and mesh the colours of the structure, in addition to further silhouetting the woman who already looks so small in the frame, emphasizing on the sense of lone serenity that intrigued me about this moment.
