close it felt unreal. i was just trying to capture the moment, not knowing how the photos would turn out. it was also my first time using Harman Phoenix 200 film stock, and the strong blue tones really surprised me but that’s exactly what made me fall in love with it. it's definitely a look i want to keep exploring. if you’re into bluish tones, you should give this film stock a try. i was telling my best friend, AJ who’s also into film photography saying that I wanted to use this roll during my ferry ride to meet her ex-girlfriend for brunch…hahaha! i also shot about 30 photos in just 10–15 minutes with this roll. i wish i could visit istanbul again. you guys should give it a try. feel free to ask me anything if you have questions. thankies! | asri]]> For this trip, I wanted to do film simulations to maximize the European summer sun. Hence, I applied Veres Deni Alex' recipes , but with a few tweaks based on the available features on my cam. This is one of the back streets of central Madrid. Joined a group-turned-one on one historical walking tour and captured this moment. In a way it makes me feel like I am creating my own little movie frame starting from a memory of a scene, with the two ending up intertwining and forming a new "false" memory. Looking at the stern composition and subject of this image, not to mention that it's in black and white, I am fairly certain I was watching a lot of Fellini and Antonioni's classics at the time I took this image. My own false memory of Mastroianni walking the streets of Bank. When I visited Seoul for the first time, I saw an elderly couple walking slowly, side by side, holding hands as they walked past me. In that moment, everything felt gentle and warm, the autumn leaves, the glow of the setting sun, and the quiet moment they share between them. It was such a simple moment, yet I felt so much. I hurried to take my camera out and captured this moment because I want to freeze this moment that I'm feeling. It's been a year since I took this picture, and it's still one of my favourite piece. I love love. & I hope through this picture you would feel the love too. :) After taking this picture I realised, love is not just a feeling but it’s a constant choice that you have to make. Virgin exhibitor here. Timor Leste has been a place that's close to my heart since I first travelled there in 2018, and again in 2024. So felt it was only fitting to showcase something from there for my first exhibition 😊 Having gained independence only in 2002, Timor is Asia's youngest country. Inspired after watching John Pilger's documentary 'Death of a Nation: The Timor Conspiracy', I set out in search to better understand how a country is post-war. I solo travelled around Timor for 2 months capturing different stories and lived experiences during the war from Timorese folks, and learnt so much about what happened during, before, and after the war from a local's perspective. It was one of the most eye-opening, truly heartwarming, and utterly heart-wrenching experiences of my life, but what stuck was the wisdom, quiet strength, resilience and beauty of the Timorese which are forever etched in me. This also kick-started my journey towards questioning Western media reportages, biases, and their heavy but not necessarily full-picture influence on us, their global audience. We really do need to hear more voices from within, not just Western perspectives.
