But I wasn’t just capturing moments, I was chasing stories, experimenting with new techniques, trying to see how far I could push a frame. This photo came from that phase. It almost looks like a hand reaching out, about to grab the woman’s head, something straight out of a horror film. But in reality, it was from a heartbreaking music video. I think that contrast says a lot about where my mind was back then. I miss that version of me, the one who kept trying, who wasn’t afraid to explore, even if the outcome was uncertain. As I further explored this place, I took notice of the elderly woman circling around this large display, quietly reciting her prayers with incense in hand. What drew me to this scene in particular is how shooting through the plastic cover (made to shelter the place) helped blur the detail and mesh the colours of the structure, in addition to further silhouetting the woman who already looks so small in the frame, emphasizing on the sense of lone serenity that intrigued me about this moment. We were very lucky to see this. We were done for safaris on the day - we were changing Hotels and moving from one Serengeti National Park to Ngoro Ngoro Crater. All my camera gear was packed up and we had a few hours of driving ahead of us. But we were still driving through the Serengeti - suddenly our driver spotted this Lion and Lioness together, and we stopped to watch. I quickly prepared my camera Gear and was happy to have captured this image. Just a quick background of what is happening - After mating, the Lioness is very angry and the Lion obviously looks scared !! Quick information for those who are interested - Serengeti is the largest National park in Tanzania and Ngoro Ngoro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - it is the worlds largest Caldera ( Volcanic Crater) - it is about 19km in diameter and has an area of 260sq km - it was formed by a huge volcanic eruption 2.5million years ago.
