          <title><![CDATA[When I walked into the Time Square’s Starbucks, what caught my eyes was more than a decorum, it was almost like it was reminding or mocking me of something. It was then I captured this and it was pure cinema in a shot. This showed me how we are equally hanging by a thread; emptied, face down, and yet clinging to the last ounce of reassurance that we are not alone. That every other person walking into this coffee shop is facing the same verge of meeting rock bottom. Emptied once again; passing through the entrance to refill life back into themselves knowing well they are incessantly bound to this perfunctory drudgery.  | Drishti Gowda]]></title>

          <title><![CDATA[Hi, this is a portrait of a middle-aged man that I took back in 2020. I was on a solo trip to India to experience the Holi festival. It was an eye-opening experience for me, and I am honoured to have experienced this festival first-hand.  After the main celebration at Shri Dwarkadhish Temple, where devotees threw coloured powder at one another, I took to the streets just outside the temple, where the party continued, with people dancing and singing. Among the many portraits I took that day, I chanced upon this man and signalled to ask if it was okay for me to snap a quick portrait of him—and thus, this image was created. | Amsyar Ashaary]]></title>

          <title><![CDATA[As a vegan, finding satisfying, decadent, luxurious desserts is really hard. After a full week of work, sport, and house chores, I find incredible happiness in going for a solo exploration of the vegan pastry shops in town. At the counter, I take my time to decide on the dessert that matches my day vibes. Then, when it arrives, I savor every little piece with wonder: what are the ingredients of the sponge, which spices were used, and how is the custard made? I feel lucky and happy to be able to eat a delicious treat that is good for me and for the planet, without hurting the animals. When it is time to leave the shop, I feel recharged with positive vibes, grateful, and ready to take on what the next week has in store for me.  Lately, I took the time to freeze these happy moments in time with my film camera.           <title><![CDATA[This photo was taken on a scorching afternoon in Southern China, just days before I moved to London. I was walking to my grandparents' graves to say goodbye. It was my first time going there all by myself, and I felt like at that moment, I had truly become a mature adult.  Along the way, I 'borrowed' a few lotus seed pods from a neighbor's pond to bring them a taste of summer. To me, memory is like these loofah vines: fragile and seasonal, yet stubbornly clinging to the sturdy trunk of home. I am drawn to ordinary people doing ordinary things—walking, waiting, working, resting. Moments that often pass unnoticed, yet through the lens these fleeting fragments become something extraordinary.  On Charles Bridge in Prague, during golden hour, a street artist sketches the portrait of a passing tourist while the world moves around them. In a scene filled with faces, the only one we do not see is the artist’s—hidden as he brings another’s likeness to life.           <title><![CDATA[Finding Color in the Noise  Street photography is often an exercise in patience and restraint. On Armenian Street in Georgetown, Penang, the umbrella installation fills the frame with repetition—layers of monochrome forms, tangled lines, and surrounding buildings competing relentlessly for attention. Every direction offers distraction. Nothing wants to stay quiet.  This photograph emerged from the challenge of seeing through that visual noise. The abundance of umbrellas and architectural clutter made it difficult to establish a clear subject. By isolating a single rainbow umbrella within the chaos, the image finds its anchor. Color becomes the language of focus, cutting through complexity and guiding the eye.  The result is not just documentation of a street art installation, but a reflection of the street photographer’s pursuit: to impose order on disorder, to wait for clarity within clutter, and to reveal meaning by choosing what to exclude.           <title><![CDATA[Juliet in the garden, December 2025 By Leonie Freeman  In December 2025 I travelled to Ibiza to photograph a project about the colourful native Ibizan lizard facing extinction due to invasive snakes coming to the island. This lizard is an ancient species and a much loved symbol of the island. In the last decade numbers are down 80%, since snake eggs have been finding their way to Ibiza hidden in the roots of imported olive trees from mainland Spain. The snakes have multiplied hugely in numbers and have been killing and eating the lizards, who have no defence against the snakes. People living on Ibiza are coming together to try and save the beloved lizard, by making snake traps and lizard sanctuaries where hopefully numbers can recover.  I was collaborating with Joanna Hruby, of Theatre of the Ancients, a puppet maker and performance artist. Joanna was putting on a Christmas play about the lizard and snake problem, at Can Cristofol farm. The play was a version of Shakespeare’s Room & Juliet, ‘Un Amor Impossible’…. Or ‘an impossible love’ between two species who can not co-exist on the island. With children dressed in amazing hand make costumes, the feuding families of the original Shakespeare play were instead lizards and snakes.   Juliet, played by Fallon, was Juliet and fell in love with Romeo, a snake. In this portrait we see Fallon as Juliet, photographed at sunset in the orange garden at Can Cristofol. She is gleaming in the golden hour sun and it feels like she is in the garden of Eden.   Shot on Mamiya 645 Pro camera with 45mm Mamiya Sekor lens.
