ห่วงบาสเกตบอลและสนามที่ Rainbow Village ในฮ่องกง

Casey Ng

My background in graphic design has always influenced the way I photograph. I naturally look for colour, light, grids, negative space and composition, and I’m particularly drawn to architecture and the way people interact with the spaces around them. It’s one of the reasons I photograph almost entirely in colour. I photographed this basketball court back home in Hong Kong, at Rainbow Village, which is soon to be demolished due to its age. It’s probably one of the most photographed places in Hong Kong, but I wanted to capture something more than just the architecture, so I waited. Eventually, someone took a shot. I pressed the shutter at the moment the ball hung above the hoop, just before we know what happens next. I love how the photograph leaves you wondering whether the ball went in. For me, it’s also a small reminder that sometimes you just have to take the shot.
